Another Savannahism

Today Savannah and I were watching a show about the orchestra. The following conversation ensued:

Savannah: Where are my instruments?
Heather: You have to use your imagination because we don't have a tuba, honey.
Savannah: Where is it?
Heather: It is in your mind. Picture the instrument in your head and pretend to play it.
Savannah: Mama, there is not a picture on my head!

Nice.

In other news, we recently returned from a whirlwind trip to Colorado. I will give the gory details and post the photos soon.

Savannahisms

Savannah has changed her ways. Gone is the quiet child who rarely uttered much more than a single syllable. She is in full-force chatty mode these days. Some of the things she says are hilarious. I have not been good about recording these verbal gems. So, I will start sharing some of the funny things she says under the heading, "Savannahisms". Here is a recent one....

Scene: I enter the garage upon returning from the Rice walking/running track. We greet each other and Savannah tells me about the "help" she is giving Daddy whilst Annabeth naps. The following conversation ensues:
Savannah: Where's Mama going?
Me: I'm going to go inside and take a shower.
Savannah: How come?
Me: I just finished exercising and I'm dirty.
There is a long pause and a strange look crosses Savannah's face and then she pokes me in the lower abdomen.
Savannah: Is Mama wearing a diaper? Is Mama's diaper dirty? Diapers are for babies.
Me (laughing): No. How about this, I'm sweaty.
Savannah: Oh, OK.

Goofy Girls

We have decided we have two very goofy girls. Annabeth has decided the most hilarious thing in the world is to try to run away from Mama while holding some sort of contraband. I can always tell if she thinks something is not allowed by which gear she has kicked in at the moment. Savannah, on the other hand, says the funniest things. I never know what she is going to say. The other day she told us that Sophie, the dog, is cute. So I asked her if Ally is also cute. She looked at me like I was crazy and emphatically told me that no, Ally is not cute. I think it is because Savannah is equating cute with small, but who knows. Poor Ally.

Sean and I were lucky enough to get away to Fredericksburg last weekend. We had three nights without the kids. I had never left Annabeth overnight before and Savannah had only been left for two nights in the past. So, this was uncharted waters. It was wonderful. We loved every minute we had together. Once we hit the 48 hour mark, I did start to itch for my girls. However, I resisted and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Here's hoping we can get a weekend away again in the next 6 months or so. I think it was good for us.

Anyway, here are some pictures. I would hate to disappoint.
