Of dresses and messes

We've been having some fun with wardrobe around here lately. Savannah was invited to a birthday party where she was encouraged to dress up as a princess. This is new territory for us. Savannah has never shown the slightest interest in princesses. I have been thankful to escape this particular trend. However, not wanting her to feel left out I went and purchased the princess dress. She looks adorable wearing it. She didn't want to take it off. I don't know if she will ask to wear it again anytime soon, but if she does ask I will oblige. It makes her happy. Annabeth loves the dress as well. It is sparkly and voluminous. Thus, very interesting to a baby. We also bought Savannah a really cute rodeo dress. It's nice that Annabeth will be able to wear it someday as well.
Annabeth, on the other hand, is enjoying making huge messes these days. She has taught herself how to open the pantry door. She is so proud of herself each time she does it. Unfortunately this leads to lots of trouble and, of course, messes. She loves blackberries. While these are a very healthy treat, you will note in the photo below that it is rather messy. She was also thrilled with the petting zoo at the rodeo. Those of you who have seen Savannah in action at the petting zoos understand that she is a girl who loves her animals. Evidently it is genetic. Annabeth squealed with delight each time we went in. I should have known she'd like it since it is oh so messy.

Seriously happy baby...

Why I have learned to fear silence

I left the bathroom door open for about 2 minutes, max. I had gone into the kitchen to get Annabeth her bottle of milk. I quickly realized it was way too quiet in the playroom. Savannah had already gone up to bed, so it was just Annabeth. The photos below is what I found. Luckily this time it was just toilet paper. Who knows what will be next...

She is so proud of herself...

Azaleas, 2009 edition

Houston is a very fun place this time of year. The rodeo is in full swing and the weather is (mostly) beautiful. The azaleas are also in bloom. They bloom for about two weeks and they are gorgeous. We try to get pictures of the girls with them each year. Here are some of this year's highlights...

Thankfully Savannah is a really good sport when Annabeth is in a feisty mood.

I promise we are still alive...

This has been quite a month in the Golden household. We have been sick with various colds and the flu, some of which was mentioned in the earlier post. We had a very fun visit with some friends from out of town (we miss you guys). Savannah started swim lessons. The rodeo is also in full swing. We have also had a fun sprinkling of birthday parties and a trip to the lake. If the weather holds out, today we are planning to take the girls to get some cute pictures of them all dressed up by the azaleas. They only really bloom for about two weeks and they are beautiful.

Savannah insisted on a front row seat for the parade.
Savannah showing off her cute new pink boots she insisted she needed for the rodeo.
Savannah all ready for her first day of "swimming school". She went every afternoon for two weeks. She loved it, but I am glad we are on to once a week.
Annabeth has been determined to learn how to feed herself lately. It is very messy, but very cute. Here's hoping she learns quickly.
